III. Post-Listening Exercise [Top]
1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write a paragraph describing your extracurricular activities that are relevant to study. View the accompanying Power Point presentation on details of how to write this paragraph.

3. Write four questions beginning with "How" when asking someone about one's extracurricular activities that are relevant to study, and then answer them. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: How did Tom try to make students aware of the devastating effects of AIDS and preventive measures?
Answer: He worked with other classmates in organizing an AIDS awareness campaign on the university campus.
Example: How did you come to participate in the student hiking association?
Answer: My friends introduced me to this activity.

4. Ask a person two questions beginning with "How" about his or her extracurricular activities during university. Write down each question and its one or two sentence reply. You can select from among the following questions from the above listening exercise as models for the questions that you ask:
How did Tom become involved in extracurricular activities during university?
How did Tom adjust to working with others in the extracurricular activities that he participated in during university?
How did Tom realize the importance of participating in extracurricular activities during university?
How did Tom develop his communication and leadership skills while participating in extracurricular activities during university?
How did Tom realize his own personal strengths while participating in extracurricular activities during university?
How did John interact with other volunteers in the AIDS awareness campaign on the university campus?
How did this volunteer experience strengthen Tom as an individual?
How did John interact with those who he was trying to help in the extracurricular activities sponsored by the university?
How did John become more of a responsible individual while participating in extracurricular activities during university?
How did the campus or community respond to the extracurricular activities that you participated in during university?
