1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write a paragraph describing your interest in a field of study. View the accompanying Power Point presentation on details of how to write this paragraph.

3. Write four questions beginning with "Where" to ask someone about their interest in a field of study and then answer them. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: Where does Sue hope to be admitted?
Answer: the Management research program at MIT
Example: Where have you decided to go for your graduate studies?
Answer: The University of Iowa in the United States

4. Ask a person two questions beginning with "Where" about his or her interest in a field of study. Write down each question and its one or two sentence reply. You can select from among the following questions from the above listening exercise as models for the questions that you ask:
Where does Sue hope to be admitted to graduate school?
Where did Sue receive her bachelor's degree?
Where did Sue major in Business Administration?
Where would Sue be interested in attending graduate school?
Where did Sue become interested in total systems intervention?
