1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write the first part of an abstract for your work or research project by briefly introducing the background, objective and methodology. View the accompanying two Power Point presentations on details of how to write this assignment.

3. Write four questions beginning with “Why” regarding the background, objective and methodology of one’s research project. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: Why do conventional methods of assessing students’ abilities fail to assess higher-order thinking?
Answer: Because they can not motivate students properly
Example: Why do you want to develop a new approach for physical therapy?

Answer: Because conventional therapeutic methods do not consider mental stress factors that affect elderly bed-ridden patients
