III. Post-Listening Exercise [Top]
1. Read the audiotranscript with a partner or change some of the information to adapt it to your situation.

2. Write a paragraph describing your knowledge of a field of study. View the accompanying Power Point presentation on details of how to write this paragraph.

3. Write four questions beginning with "Why" when asking someone about their current knowledge of a field of study and then answer them. The question does not have to come directly from the listening exercise.
Example: Why does Tom want to pursue an advanced degree at the Institute of Public Health of Harvard University?
Answer: To effectively address public health issues in Taiwan.
Example: Why are interested in studying biotechnology in graduate school?
Answer: To contribute to Taiwan's development of this technology field.

4. Ask a person two questions beginning with "Why" about his or her current knowledge of a field of study. Write down each question and its one or two sentence reply. You can select from among the following questions from the above listening exercise as models for the questions that you ask:
Why does Tom want to pursue an advanced degree at the Institute of Public Health of Harvard University?
Why has Tom decided to devote himself to effectively addressing public health issues in Taiwan following graduate school?
